First time users of the AEShareNet licensing system
Welcome to the AEShareNet website - The core of which is a database of information about learning materials owned by organisations around Australia. You can use the website to take out a licence to use and enhance these materials for your own purposes.
The AEShareNet website lets you:
- Search our database of learning materials and transact licences online to use and adapt materials based on standard licence agreements and to negotiate individual licences.
- Access our Understanding Copyright collection of documents created by us to explain copyright issues as they relate to education and training in Australia.
- Use our External Links section to find other resources and organisations on copyright and intellectual property management.
Members of AEShareNet are also able to:
- transact licences online at a cheaper rate than non-members.
- list their own training material for others to license and gain a potential return on investment.
- gain full access to the Member's Area that enables other features such as generation of sophisticated reporting on their licence transactions.
- receive relevant updates about issues of copyright and intellectual property in the VET sector.
Can I obtain learning materials from the AEShareNet licensing system?
Not directly at this stage, but we can make it easier to find them. Our core business is about licensing of materials - enabling you to acquire the right to adapt and reproduce learning materials for use in your organisation's training delivery or for other purposes. However because our database contains a consolidated list of materials owned by many different training organisations, it is one very good place to look for learning materials. (Other sources are available via our External Links page).
When you do a search and view details of what we call a Material Registration, our site will always provide contact details for the member who put this material in the database. If the member has provided a URL specific to this material the Material Registration page will also contain a link to the Members website containing additional information about this specific material - it may even include the actual material.
For more detail about this, including what we are doing to assist organisations to integrate these two processes, see our Licensing and Obtaining Materials page.
