A Clearance or Copyright Clearance is a comprehensive set of principles under which AEShareNet can be used as a vehicle enabling Members to: make assertions as to copyright ownership, and disclose any weaknesses in title; negotiate authorisations from part owners to Licence Material into the system; negotiate and trade off claims to layered, shared or uncertain copyright.
A Member is a person or organisation who has been granted access rights to certain functionality within AEShareNet. A Member must have one or more Budget Centres related to it. As the term Budget Centres suggests, some functions such as Royalties are dealt with through one of a Member's Budget Centres rather than through the Member itself. On the other hand some AEShareNet functionality, such as the legal implications of the licences are dealt with through the Members themselves. Thus, it could be said, that the overriding purpose of Budget Centres, is to allow Members which are actually large organisations, to separate their financial transactions between their various departments.
